These guides are delightful, and Edinburgh is a good city for their usefulness and fun.
I have the same book for London and loved it. It divides the city up into parts that are easy walking areas. The nice part is that it's small enough so you aren't carting around a heavy book or an awkward big map. It stores easily in my purse. I can pull it out and look at the 'just the right size map' and see where I want to go next. I only wish they had one for Glasgow, Inverness, etc...all the other places I want to go.
I have these Knopf map books for London and NYC too. So easy to read ---font size is better than your usual map and no wrestling with it to fold it up! Easy to use and carry in your purse.
