This is a great teaching book. I am someone who has never really played piano nor do I even know how to read music but within an hour was able to play When the Saints Go Marching and know what notes I was hitting.
I like this although it is much more of a beginner's book than I though. It is not really written for electronic keyboards though, it is a piano book. I will buy a different book for my needs, which is how to play electronic keyboards. If you have any piano knowledge at all, this book will be far too easy for you and it does not describe keyboard playing at all.
Since I've never played the piano before, I'm finding the lesson book quite helpful. It's easy to understand and learning short songs at first by using letters helps me become familiar with the keyboard. I'm now on the section on learning how to read music, so we will see how this goes! I would definitely recommend the book.
Having purchased a couple beginner’s guides to accompany a new keyboard, this was by far the easiest to follow and understand – the others I found a bit daunting for a complete beginner like myself. Nice, clear photos and diagrams, a good pace as I worked through the book, and very clear explanations about all the functions of my keyboard and how to incorporate the various rhythms and chords as I played. Highly recommended.

How To Play Keyboard bookGreat book - simple to follow, easy to understand and got me started with my keyboard quickly and easily. It really is much easier to master than I thought, and I'd recommend this book for any beginner.
I bought a keyboard and the directions that came with it were sketchy at best. I bought this book because I was hoping it would explain more about the keyboard functions. It is sadly lacking information like that and refers you back to the manual. If the manual was better, I wouldn't have needed this book!!This book is very good at teaching the fingering. I would have given it 4 stars, except the notes are so small, they are hard for an adult to see. I have to bend over, which is hard on the back. I would imagine a child would have their head closer to the book, so it wouldn't be as big a problem.
A really good book for the beginner keyboardist, this book will not only teach you how to play keyboard, but it will definitely simplify the process of reading music notes if thats what you choose to do. Just patiently and slowly follow instructions and you will play the keyboard
